Where You Once Stood

The long road called, and you had to leave,
Not by your will, but by what you must believe.
In a different path, a new start,
Leaving me here with a broken heart.
It wasn't your fault, just the way things fell,
A cruel twist of fate, a story to tell.

Now I stand where you once stood,
At the edge of a choice, a life misunderstood.
The circumstances are the same, the path is unclear,
And I'm the one who has to disappear.
The world expects me to turn and walk away,
To let distance win, to not stay.

But I remember the ache, the quiet plea,
The love you couldn't give, but gave to me.
So I will not let the road win this time,
I'll build a bridge with my heart, a love sublime.
I'll be the love I wished you could have been,
Proving that some circles can still mend.
